And yes, everyone needs to (please) calm down, so we can talk. Using our indoor voices.

Exactly why government and politics needs to be boring again. No one raises their voice at a 10 hour boring AF zoning meeting in most cases. lol. Snooze fest.

It's shameful and horrifying how off base Mike Johnson is about both the U.S. Constitution AND Christianity. I don't give two hoots about his religion--that's his choice as long as he doesn't interfere with mine -- but given his position I care deeply about him attempting to edit the Founders.

.

Here's a similar piece of mine: https://medium.com/bouncin-and-behavin-academy/george-washington-thinks-i-will-not-comply-is-a-crock-of-shit-a43a4d4f5733?sk=cf6a2dc419f6a51e8c5c40b8a100de09

I had planned that as a two-parter but realize now I haven't yet written the second piece.

On a separate note, one of my old friends has supported a Christian-Shariah group for years. I dismissed his beliefs as crazy but comfortably on the fringe. Now...sheesh! Thank you so much for writing this -- I'm delighted to have found your work on Substack!

Christian-Sharia hahahaha... yeah that pretty much sums it up. Funny that I have some Muslim friends who are also believe that Islam is not appropriate any more than Christianity or any other religion as a "state religion". Regardless of religion or spiritual practice we need more people who understand the sanctity of having a purely secular state that neither incorporates or favors any religion or spiritual practice. All of that being said... I think a lot of these modern issues around division have to do with the fact that we need to make government boring again. People get too whipped up about it. This is why no one can agree to disagree on anything these days. Government isn't boring enough. A boring secular government that is like a zoning meeting snooze fest is the ideal government.

Omg amen all over that!!! The gray-suit-wearing, sedan-driving professional administrators and bureaucrats make the wheels of government turn…reliably and without fanfare. Make Government Boring Again needs to be on a hat.

Yeah, you know the person who is the biggest bore to listen to almost always gets my vote. But also like you say here, it's the grey suit folks with a pile of accounting papers and zoning maps that do all of the heavy lifting and we just don't give them enough credit for keeping things running and keeping the crowd calm with the most boring government minutia imaginable.
